I was in Santa Monica this morning and noted several police officers in cars and on motorcycles in the area. After running an errand I saw this police officer writing this poor guy a ticket. After the cyclist got his ticket and rode off I asked the officer what the ticket was for and he told me that the cyclist failed to yield to a pedestrian at a crosswalk nearly hitting someone trying to cross the street. So, dear cyclists you should be on your best cycling behavior in Santa Monica as the number of police officers about has been higher than usual lately.
Edited to add: Here is a link to Santa Monica Bike Regulations. Note the part about the reflectors on your pedals. My hubby said that that is one that could easily be violated unknowingly.
